Survivor: Redemption Island is the twenty-second season of American reality television series Survivor CBS competitive, which premiered February 16, 2011. The applications were in January 2010, and filming lasted from August to September of the 2010th season was filmed near San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, at the same location as the previous season. The exhibition includes returning players Russell Hantz and Rob Mariano, and 16 new players for Survivor.
Survivor Season 22, introduced a new concept, the island of redemption, the number of United States based in part on concepts already used in the foreign versions of the show, including the Isle of the Dead in the Israeli version, Purgatory Island in Filipino version of the second season, Ghost Island in the second season of the Serbian version, and the duels in the 2002 edition in Sweden. When a contestant is voted off his tribe, instead of leaving the game, which are brought to the area known as the island of redemption.
